What’s in a haul?

I’ve been recently asked what my grocery list looks like, and what “healthy groceries” I buy to be able to prepare my meals in advance.

Rather than just list the items, I figured it would be easiest to just show you what I bought in case it might give you any ideas! This is my most recently healthy haul of groceries, which will enable my wife and I to prepare meals over the weekend for all of our breakfasts, lunches, and for some of our dinners for all of this week, plus some to freeze for the future.

Keep in mind that this is shopping for a week or more, for a family of four. We all eat pretty similarly, kids included!

Some of the things that we will be making include oven-baked chicken with tomatoes, meat slop, oven baked eggs, and a very filling, ready in 10 minutes, chicken salad for dinner right after putting all of this away.

Other ingredients are apple cider vinegar, mixed greens, green peppers, red onions, jalapenos, and some sriracha.

First stop, the grocery store that sells beer. Not everywhere sells beer because I live in Pennsylvania which still has weird prohibition style laws.

Giant Eagle (regional grocery store)

  • Ommegang Game of Thrones Three Eyed Raven Saison x 1 (to drink while watching Game of Thrones this Sunday night!)

Aldi

  • Apple Juice boxes x 2
  • Light String Cheese x 2
  • Rice Chex x 2
  • Bottled Water case
  • Celery x 2
  • Mushrooms (1lb)
  • Garlic x 3
  • Green peppers x 6
  • Zucchini x 3
  • Cabbage x 5
  • Baby carrots (4lbs)

Sam’s Club

  • Rotiserrie chicken x 1
  • Angel sweet cherry tomatoes x 1
  • Strawberries (8lbs)
  • EXTRA! Peppermint Sugar Free Gum
  • Bananas (1 bunch)
  • Feta cheese
  • Eggs 18pk x 2
  • Dannon Lite and Fit Vanilla Greek Yogurt x 8 (16lbs total)
  • Mixed Frozen Tropical Fruit
  • Sweet potatoes (10lbs)
  • Frozen broccoli florets (8lbs)
  • Full fat milk x 2 gallons
  • Mixed salad bag x 2
  • 90/10 Ground Beef 5 lbs
  • Fresh chicken breast 21lbs
